"I've been with LHRIC since 2006, initially as an educational consultant. Over the past three years, I've transitioned to the data privacy service and security department. My role involves consulting with school districts on data privacy and security needs, providing guidance on policy implementation, and supporting the Data Protection Officer (DPO) in resolution recommendations. Additionally, I research data privacy standards and best practices, integrating this knowledge into training programs. I ensure that third-party contractor contracts include data security provisions and develop recommendations for confidentiality provisions regarding shared student, teacher, or principal data. Additionally, I develop annual data privacy and security awareness training for employees with access to Personal Identifiable Information (PII). I serve as a liaison with technology resources and networks, including the New York State Education Department, to stay informed about changes to Education Law 2-D and facilitate communication among shared Data Protection Officers.
